Allergies.

Food allergies are a big problem with dogs at the moment mostly the cause of processed foods and added chemicals.

Dogs react to food allergies by generally suffering with skin and coat problems. If you’ve experienced such allergies with your dog, you know the importance of taking your dog to a vet for formal diagnosis, and in turn learning how to treat such allergies.

Researching food allergies, and more specifically wheat/gluten allergies, I’ve found the following to be common symptoms:

Asthma like symptoms

Anal itching

Behavioural changes

Seizures

Many dog owners never suspect that a wheat allergy could be the cause of their dog’s health problems, usually because the dog has been fed the same food all its life and the symptoms have only recently appeared. But dogs are no different from humans in the fact that food allergies can develop over a period of time.

Cleo  recently invited over a few of her furry friends for a play date…  Snoops, and Ted.  Not only are play dates important for socialization, but more importantly it’s a great way for Cleo and her friends to blow off some steam!  These gatherings also for me to have a break in my day, with free time to work in the kitchen and bake up new recipe ideas.

Dinner of the week recipe

Each week I will be giving you a 100% The Doggy-Deli dinner recipe and this week it is.......Bobby`s Pasta Bowl.

This pasta has been specifically created and tested to suit a Dog`s diet. If your dog has an issue with egg then you can use other binding ingredients like soya milk as an alternative.

Ingredients
9oz Minced meat(preferably Turkey). Please choose minced meat you would eat yourself-lean.
1oz Organic Oats
1 egg or binding substitute
1 Courgette
1/2 bunch of Oregano
Oil for frying preferably Olive Oil
5oz cooked spaghetti (whole grain/wheat)
3 fl oz Organic tomato juice.

Method
Mix the minced Turkey with the porridge oats and binding ingredient. Finely grate the courgette and then add to the mix. Strip the leaves of the oregano off the stalks and knead them into the meat mixture. Roll the mixture into mouth sized meat balls and fry slowly until cooked all the way through.
Cut the spaghetti into small pieces and mix with the tomato juice. Then add the meat balls.
